Scaling research capability after a team reduction
Challenge
After a layoff, a lean UXR team could no longer absorb every research request, yet product teams still needed to stay connected to users and keep iterating fast.
Approach
Built a structured training programme covering research basics, customer conversations and usability testing; created self-serve templates and workflows; opened access to recruitment tools; and set UXR review checkpoints as quality guardrails.
Impact
35 designers and PMs trained, designer-led studies went from zero to 20 in six months, requests to the research team dropped, and UXR was freed up for strategic, high-impact work.
